So what’s all this Google G-Suite hoop-lah?

By Jannah Bolds

Google has always been one of the big dogs in the tech market. So, there’s no surprise to see the company make changes to keep things “fresh”. On September 29th this year, Google announced the “name change” of its current Google Apps tool. It will still be the same all-in-one tool that users access every day, just with a slightly different twist.

Google prides itself in teamwork, so it was only right to make this new suite as user-friendly and interactive as ever.

“In the spirit of teamwork, we partnered with some of our favorite illustrators from around the world to bring our ideas to life with their iconic creativity,” said Kelly Campbell, Senior Director of G Suite Marketing, Google Cloud.

So, what will you get with G Suite?

A) Smarter Storage

A new feature called “Quick Access” in Google Drive for Android will allow users to make frequently accessed material, well, easier to access. These documents will pop right up when you open Google Drive. They base your frequently accessed docs on interactions with colleagues and recurring activity with machine intelligence that helps Google understand the rhythm of your work life and can show you things before you even have the chance to ask. Quite cool, in a weird, creepy, stalker-kinda way.

B) Smarter Team Meetings

Not saying that your team isn’t already smart, but you get the idea. Google understands that teamwork goes beyond the boundaries of your conference room. On-the-go meetings are now easier than ever by using an improved Google Hangout feature. Users are given total freedom by being able to join with any device and invite anyone, even without an account or data connection. This new interface can hold up to 50 participants via video with, of course, Google Calendar integration and an instant screen-share option. Video chat with 50 people? Hmm, sounds like a party to me!

C) Smarter Spreadsheets

If you’re someone who cringes at the thought of equations and uncooperative cells, like me, chances are you’ll be more comfortable with Google’s new rendition of Sheets. Not all of us are math wizards and sleep with multiplication flashcards under the pillow, so folks at Google understand that. Now, machine intelligence allows users to actually type in the questions or problems they want solved. Yes, that means typing words will get the job done just as effectively! It’s like the computer equates keywords to quantitative actions! Aha, genius I say!

If you like what you heard in points A, B, and C, chances are that you just might need the G Suite. It comes with a lot more features than what I just explained and for a more in depth analysis, visit Google’s G Suite Blog >> HERE! <<

Free education? Sign me up!

There is no doubt that education is the key to success. No matter which field you are pursuing, there must be some foundation laid before you continue to build higher, right? Chances are that you’ve already done your four years of undergrad and might be stuck in the mud about where you should take your career (if you’re not still looking for it)

There is often the “affordability” dilemma when folks look into reaching educational goals. The excuses like, “I can’t afford it..” or “I don’t have the time, My name is Kevin Gates, I work six jobs..blah”, usually deter people from reaching a milestone.

I got the chance to do something that the working class, often, doesn’t get the chance to do; pick a CEO’s brain. Big woopty-do right?

technology-1095751_640

Wrong.

He wasn’t just any CEO, he’s a multimillion dollar CEO! I sat and asked him questions that I had been asking myself for so long like, how to get a job that requires experience when you have none, what employers look for in good potential employees, how important is education really, does the type of school really matter, etc.?

He answered my questions in a heartbeat, with no problem, but the one gem he dropped on me lit my fire so quickly, I feel that it is my responsibility to share.

FREE EDUCATION IS REAL!

Google is connected with this company called Alison. Alison.com is a site that hosts hundreds of free video lectures, “Courses”, that can be accessed at ANY time by ANYone with a Google account. Thousands of students (or non students) utilize this site on a daily basis to get better understandings on the classes they’re already taking or better themselves in their career fields.

This site covers subjects from business management and entrepreneurship, HR, web design, psychology, customer service, programming, social media marketing, children’s studies, nursing and patient care, social work, IT management, statistics, mental health, Six Sigma…the list goes on.

You can even earn certificates. You would have to pay for the actual document at the end of those types of courses, but, the learning is free!

What are you waiting for? Go sign up and get your education on!

**If you know of any other free educational opportunities, please share in comments!**

You’re welcome 🙂

New Orleans puts voodoo on Falcons

The streak is overBy Jannah Bolds

I don’t even want to hear anything about “Who dat?” You know why? Because that was simply a terrible terrible performance by the Atlanta Falcons. So many things went wrong for Matt Ryan’s team; and hot damn, what a match-up for things to go sour.

The injury to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was not even evident that night against Atlanta. Brees found the weak spot in the Falcon’s defense, and ran with it all the way till the clock hit 0:00. The weak spot you ask? Atlanta’s secondary of course. Brees and the offense made a point that they were taking advantage of Atlanta’s off night.

Lets not single out just one group on Atlanta’s team that performed horribly; it was a group effort, with the exception of a few. Offensively, Atlanta struggled, with three turnovers and a couple sacks. The offensive line missed a few assignments last night which lead to those mess-ups.

The Atlanta defense were effective in stopping New Orleans’ running game, but when Brees put the ball in the air, it was all she wrote. That made it had for the Falcons offense to catch up in the end.

Oh well, such as life. The two southern rivals will meet once more at the end of the season, this time in the Georgia Dome, to settle things once and for all. Meanwhile, the Falcons are still under the Carolina Panthers in the NCF South, but that may change once the Panthers face the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday at 4:00pm.
