all that life consists of

Cherish while you can

So, the other day I had another adult moment.

Nirvana again, I guess.

It was my Mom’s birthday.

She was born in 1953, clearly a well seasoned individual who’s experienced a lot in her lifetime. Seen a lot, done a lot, earned a lot of wisdom. As a child growing up, you don’t recognize and appreciate your parent’s wisdom until you’re older.

This particular moment came when I saw my father take mom out for a birthday dinner. They were dressed nicely; primped and tailored for a “celebrational”, jazzy night out. I was fortunate enough to take their photograph before the left for the evening, and pumped them up on their good looks.

Hours later as I was going through the pictures on my phone (trying to rid unneeded images to free up space), I come across the recently taken photographs of the lovely couple. I stopped for a moment to admire their poise and love for each other over the thirty-something year-long marriage.

I saw the age on their faces, as I briefly envisioned the photos they took together in previous years, and compared them to 2018.

I couldn’t help but smile and shed a tear of happiness.

My mom used to say that God only promises us 70 years on this Earth and each day after is a blessing. I don’t recall reading that anywhere lol, but I’d be damned to think they haven’t been a blessing to me already.

I don’t mean to be too soft, but we all need a reminder sometimes.

Cherish your loved ones while you can. ❤
